JOHOR BARU: Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar driving his own Proton Saga car sent Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to Senai International Airport here Thursday evening.
The vehicle was presented to the Sultan of Johor's father about 34 years ago.
The eye-catching scenario took place after the meeting of Sultan Ibrahim and Dr Mahathir for 90 minutes.
The blue-colored vehicle driven by the Sultan of Johor was traveling about 25 kilometers between the Bukit Serene Palace to the airport.
The vehicle with a Proton 1 registration number was presented by Dr Mahathir to the late Sultan Iskandar when he was on the throne of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on 9 July 1985.
Proton Saga is the earliest model that marks the beginning of Malaysia as a vehicle manufacturer.
Prior to that, Dr Mahathir arrived at the palace to meet with Sultan Ibrahim at 4pm.
It was the first meeting between Dr Mahathir and Sultan Ibrahim after Pakatan Harapan won the 14th General Election.
