21 died while botched circumcision in South Africa,

CAPE TOWN: At least 21 teenagers in South Africa were killed by a cut-off error in the penis during the botched circumcision process since November this year.

According to the state authorities on Monday, the number includes 17 cases in the Eastern Cape Region and two deaths in Northwest and Western Cape.

This unfortunate incident is believed to be due to lack of support and convenience to carry out the procedure.

Circumcision is considered as a sacred practice in African culture, signifying a male transition from childhood to adulthood.

Every year, dozens of boys die and many have to be hospitalized.

In the past 10 years, South Africa has recorded more than 1,000 cases of cuts in the penis during botched circumcision.
