Sultan Muhammad V resigned.




PETALING JAYA: Sultan Muhammad V resigned as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The resignation effective Sunday was confirmed by a statement issued by the State Palace.

"To honor His Royal Highness His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong XV Sultan Muhammad V, hereby the Istana Negara hereby declare that Your Majesty the Royal Highness His Majesty resigned as Yang di-Pertuan Agong XV with effect from 6 January 2019 .

"He has informed this matter officially to His Royal Highness the Rulers, through a decree sent to the Secretary of the Conference of Rulers," the statement said.

The statement was issued by Datuk Pengelola Bijaya Diraja, Datuk Wan Ahmad Dahlan Ab. Aziz on Sunday.

Adding that, Sultan Muhammad V also expressed his gratitude to His Majesty the Kings who voted for him as the 15th YDP Agong on 13 December 2016.

Not surprisingly, Sultan Muhammad V also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the government for their cooperation in the administration of the country.

"As the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, he is proud of the sacrifices and loyalty that has been poured out on him and the country all this time," said the statement.
