Kellie's Castle

Back in December last year, I have the chance to visit one of the historical places in Malaysia - Kellie’s Castle. The sole reason I visited the place because I have been through it for a few times in the past every time I am fetching my sister at UiTM Seri Iskandar.

Kellie’s Castle is located in Batu Gajah, which is about a two-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur, and a 30-minute drive from Ipoh town to Jalan Gopeng. You can also take the Electric Train Service from KL to Ipoh.

The unfinished, ruined mansion known as Kellie’s Castle was built by William Kellie Smith, a Scottish planter from Scotland. Smith builds the building as a symbol of love for his beloved wife. Some sources said it is a gift for his son.

The unfinished mansion consists of two houses, which is, Kellas House and Kellie’s House. However, only Kellie’s house was able to finish the constructions before the death of Smith.

The building consists of rooms, wine cellar, elevator shaft and six storey tower. Some of the rooms have been fitted with furniture so you get to see what they would have been like if the construction had been completed.

TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
Kellie's Castle is now a popular local tourist attraction, with some believing it to be haunted situated beside the Raya River (Sungai Raya), which is a small creek to the Kinta River.

From the entrance, you will be greeted by a few stalls selling craft, souvenir, and foods. There will be also huge logo written ‘Kellie Castle right before the entrance to the castle.

To get to the main building visitors have to pay entrance fee which is RM5 for Malaysian adult and have to climb the stairs to reach the main site of the house.

The mansion became tourist attractions because of the architecture and since it is believed to be haunted. Both the castle interior and gardens are also good for taking your pre-wedding shots so it might appeal to couples and photography fans, too.

EXPECTATION VS REALITY
I am not going to lie that I was a little disappointed when I reach the historic site. It is good enough because the place not just become the hot attraction for Malaysian but also foreign tourist. What disappointed me was the place did not maintain very well.

Yes, I agree that it is a historic place and perhaps one of the reason the authority keeping in that way was to make visitors feel the horror atmosphere because the castle is associated with many ghost stories. Aside from being mentioned in the history books, there is nothing much to see in the mansion itself. With lots of spider web in every single room and some of the areas such as the living room where people cannot access, there is nothing more.

Malaysia VS Japan Match postponed.

An AFC U-16 Championship match between Malaysia and Japan has been postponed to Thursday.

Originally scheduled to kick off at on Wednesday at 4.30 pm but due to poor weather at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium as well as the UM Arena Stadium, where another Group A match between Thailand and Tajikistan was supposed to take place, forced the postponement for safety reasons.

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) confirmed that both matches, which need to kick off at the same time due to being the final group matches, will be played at 11am tomorrow.

For the Malaysia vs Japan match, fans can re-enter the stadium with their ticket stubs.

Currently third in Group A, Malaysia need a win against Japan or a draw provided Thailand lose to Tajikistan to progress to the quarter-finals.

The four teams to reach the semi-finals will qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The FAM announced that entry will be free for the rescheduled Malaysia vs Japan match.

Krabi Trip by Kamal

Back in 2015, I went to a trip to Krabi Thailand with my friends. That time, I am still working full time at an optical shop at Pavilion KL named Optical 88.

It is true that unplanned plan is effective hahahaha. Actually, this trip was planned 3 weeks before the actual date. Me, my friend Zubai, her classmate Pian, our schoolmate Ain, Ain's classmates two person, Nisa and Fyna, and Ain's sister Kak Nur. So total 6 people in a trip. We did not use agent. We just gamble go.

Our route is from KL sentral, we take Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad(KTMB) to Padang Besar then continue to Hatyai. From Hatyai, we take Tuktuk to Krabi Town. We stayed there.

What I cannot forgot is actually not really about the trip itself but the beginning of our journey. I worked full shift from 10am to 10pm. After that, I went straight to KL Sentral! Imagine how tired I am hahahaha. I changed my attire, go get some food before departure, take the train then sleep on the way to Padang Besar. I was really tired but cause of the excitement, I forgot about the tiredness issue.

It was fun. We went to the float market, the Emerald Pool, we ride the elephant(the worst decision ever about the trip because their condition was so poor...I am sorry dear elephant :'() and night market of course! I love food so I really like the night market. There are so many tasty food can be found there. Well I do not know how it is today though.

Well, I think Malaysia still have better place to go as vacation. But I did not regret anything. Just the elephant part. If you want to release tension with low budget, you may go to Krabi :) Everything is cheap. Our cost is RM600 for 6 days and for everything.

Reminder to those who loves buying social media medications

Don't trust online seller that sells unauthorised medication or supplement. If you think you are not feeling healthy, go and ask the doctor instead. It is not that expensive especially if you go to the public hospital, it is only RM1 for registration. It is better to prevent than curing.

Success Motivation

The war between the Us and OPEC on determining the oil price.

Petroleum or oil price in layman language, is one of the important source of daily basis. Malaysia is also a producer of this oil but not as large as other country. We are a very small oil producer. This oil is very important until it became a very large business and a very large source of income to the large producers. Basically the price of this oil will be determine by an organization called OPEC, to avoid the imbalance and unfair dealing. OPEC stands for The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is a permanent, intergovernmental Organization, was founded in Baghdad, Iraq, with the signing of an agreement in September 1960 by five countries namely Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. They were to become the Founder Members of the Organization.
These countries were later joined by Libya , the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Nigeria , Gabon , Angola , Equatorial Guinea  and Congo. This means that, currently, the Organization has a total of 14 Member Countries.
OPEC's objective is to co-ordinate and unify petroleum policies among Member Countries, in order to secure fair and stable prices for petroleum producers; an efficient, economic and regular supply of petroleum to consuming nations; and a fair return on capital to those investing in the industry.
Up until the middle of the 20th century, the United States was the largest producer of oil and controlled oil prices. But now its seem like the US is not the largest producer anymore and also can’t control the prices of oil. And now the prices of the oil are on rise which make the president chair hot.

The price of the oil today are on the top of hill. It may a positive move on the side of the producer but as a consumer for daily basis just like you and me, it is definitely a rising burden. Oil is became one of the daily uses in today’s live as the world to moving forward to the technology way.
The United State was the first extracted oil user which lay them the power of pricing the oil. At that time the US was the largest producer of oil in the world. In general, oil prices were volatile and high during the early years because economies of scale during extraction and refining were not present.  The price fell by more than 60% over the next 5 years and rose by 50% during the next 5 years.
However then, the supply and demand for oil rose additionally with the discovery of oil in Iran in 1908 and Saudi Arabia during the 1930s and World War I, respectively. The use of oil in weaponry and the subsequent European coal shortage further ratcheted demand for oil, and prices came crashing down to $40 in today's terms. Meantime, in response to U.S. support for Israel during the Yom Kippur War, OPEC and Iran stopped oil supplies to the United States. The crisis had far-reaching effects on oil prices. They have remained at high levels since. OPEC controls oil prices through its pricing-over-volume strategy.
Now currently the pricing the oil is on the hands of OPEC, which the prices are on rising, and poking the US. Although the organization’s charter doesn’t state this explicitly, fix prices but, by restricting production OPEC could force oil prices to rise, and thereby theoretically enjoy greater profits than if its member countries had each sold on the world market at the going rate. Throughout the 1970s and much of the 1980s, this was a sound if immoral strategy for OPEC.
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, OPEC member countries often exceed their quotas, selling a few million extra barrels and knowing that enforcers can’t really stop them from doing so. With Canada, China, Russia and the United States as non-members, OPEC is limited in its ability to, as its mission euphemistically states, “ensure the stabilization of oil markets in order to secure an efficient, economic and regular supply of petroleum to consumers.”

Volcano collapsed in Indonesia, triggered Tsunami.

INDONESIA: The deadly tsunami in Indonesia was triggered by a chunk of the Anak Krakatau volcano slipping into the ocean, officials have confirmed, amid calls for a new early warning system that can detect volcanic eruptions.
At least 373 people were killed and many buildings were heavily damaged when the tsunami struck, almost without warning, along the rim of the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra islands late on Saturday.
Anak Krakatau had been spewing ash and lava for months before a 64-hectare (158-acre) section of its south-west side collapsed, an Indonesian official said. “This caused an underwater landslide and eventually caused the tsunami,” said Dwikorita Karnawati, the head of the meteorological agency.
Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, the chief spokesman for the Indonesian disaster agency, said the country had no early warning system for landslides or volcanic eruptions. “The current early warning system is for earthquake activity,” he wrote on his Twitter.
“Indonesia must build an early warning system for tsunamis that are generated by underwater landslides and volcanic eruptions.”  Sutopo said.
“They need to be rebuilt to strengthen the Indonesian tsunami early warning system.

A Trip to Malacca - By Kavinmullai

Malacca was once a thriving trading port. Today it is teeming with history. While it no longer enjoys the glory days of centuries gone by, it still is a melting pot of cultures that cme to establish themselves through ancient conquests and trade.
Today it is one of the top places to visit in Malaysia and the phenomenon is not fading anytime soon.
Luckily I get to visit this inherited place while I'm alive.
I get the opportunity to visit this place with my fellow friends and my lecturer of Photojournalism class, Mr. Khalil Sreedaran last year.

We filled up our days with plenty of attractions spots. We have visited A' Famosa, Jonekr Walk, Malacca River, Dutch Square, Taming Sari, The Stadthuys Malacca and Pantai Klebang.
My most favorite place in Malacca is the Jonker Walk. Its a famous street in Malacca where it is rich for its collection of authentic antiques, the cultural aspect and the architecture; most of the shop buildings here are from the 17th century which makes them several hundred years old. Lovers of antique items will always come to Jonker Walk as part of their Malaysian itinerary. Visitors come from far and wide, all over the world for the best bargains of items and jewellery of bygone eras. In the Dutch colonial period, it was the street in which the servants of Dutch masters had their homes. Soon the well-heeled locals started to live in the area and they opened shops as well. The street has a strong Chinese influence; there is even a Chinatown owing to Chinese immigration over the centuries.

The second most tourist spot that I loved is the Malacca River. Its a slow-moving river that cuts across the city. Rather than taking a walk or car to tour the place, you can take a cruise to get a good overview of the city. Have a slow and entertaining view of the city while cruising down the river. You may choose to ride either in the morning, afternoon or evening. The evening cruise is the most attractive one as every shop are lit up with colourful bright lights whereas the twinkling sparkle from the reflection of water makes the city glow! The graffiti here along Jalan Kampung Hulu is colourful and intriguing and lovers of street art will find plenty to look at and enjoy.

Apart from these places, Dutch Square also known as Red Square is one part of Malacca that inspired the awarding city as a World Heritage site. It is situated just to the south of the main part of the city near the St. John’s Fort. It is easily accessible and a lot of locals and overseas tourists come to visit Dutch Square every day. Dutch Square is clearly visible from St Paul’s Hill which is not far off. In the vicinity of the Dutch Square is the Cheng Ho Culture Museum. The history that is held in this place is immense. You will experience the history from the Malay Empire days, to the Portuguese invasion days, to the Dutch period and the current situation.

The Stadthuys Malacca is must visit place as it is also known as a matter of priority. It holds a lot of secrets and stories from the Dutch colonial period. Here you will find a vibrant atmosphere with many tourists visiting The Stadthuys every day. They will be from locals, Asia countries and other countries in the world. It is also a good place to people-watch.
Melaka definitely touches me with its mixture of culture where you can find traces of countries from the east (China and Japan) and west (Portugal, Spain and England). When I had a chance to travel to Melaka for a period of 3 days and 2 nights, I realized if I want to experience this place to the fullest, I had to make a good travel plan.

On top of being an ideal destination filled with wonders of ancient buildings and colonial structures, Malacca is also a land of gastronomical delight. Tantalize your taste buds with all these mouthwatering selections of food; spicy, sweet, tangy and sour local specialties all over the streets of Malacca. “Malacca is a food heaven!” is what you’ll most likely hear when you enquire about the small and historical city.
I wish I could rewind my days of spending at Malacca. Malacca is definitely the heaven that Malaysia have in it. I would gladly recommend Malacca for a good relaxation tourism spot.

Culture of Malaysian Indian - Thaipusam - Kavinmullai Naguchete

As a cultural enthusiast, I find it exciting how the Indian culture is not bound by political boundaries. Malaysia is a great example.
Indian-Culture-in-Malaysia

Thaipusam festival is a true celebration of the Malaysian-Indian cultural heritage. The festivities are organized in honour of Lord Murugan (also known as Kartikeya) and take place at Batu Caves, in Selangor. Devotees congregate from throughout Malaysia. Many carry Kavadis– heavy tableaus worn around waist that are meant to serve as self-retribution of misdeeds- while others subject themselves to cheek or tongue piercings, in show of enduring devotion to God. Deepavali is also a major festival for the Malaysia-Indians and is a national holiday. Shared history means that the countries will be forever connected by the Indian-origin diaspora and its unique culture, which is a confluence of Malaysian and Indian practices.

Charles Krauthammer quotes

Nurul Izzah Step Back.

PETALING JAYA:  The People’s Justice Party (PKR), a key Pakatan Harapan component led by democracy icon and prime minister-in-waiting Anwar Ibrahim, endured its own turbulence on Monday when Nurul Izzah Anwar, Anwar’s daughter, announced her resignation from the roles of PKR vice-president and Penang state chief, adding to internal strife following heated party polls that wound up last month
The Permatang Pauh MP said that she would remain a member of the parliamentary backbench committed to reforms.
“My only regret is that I should have made this announcement sooner, but it has not been an easy decision to arrive at.
“The pace of political developments has been relentless for the last nine months, with party elections following a gruelling general election campaign,” she said.
Izzah’s announcement was received with shock, although her father, Anwar, has said little. PKR deputy president and economic affairs minister Azmin Ali said he would “try to talk to her” in an attempt to understand her motivations and what “really happened”.

21 died while botched circumcision in South Africa,

CAPE TOWN: At least 21 teenagers in South Africa were killed by a cut-off error in the penis during the botched circumcision process since November this year.

According to the state authorities on Monday, the number includes 17 cases in the Eastern Cape Region and two deaths in Northwest and Western Cape.

This unfortunate incident is believed to be due to lack of support and convenience to carry out the procedure.

Circumcision is considered as a sacred practice in African culture, signifying a male transition from childhood to adulthood.

Every year, dozens of boys die and many have to be hospitalized.

In the past 10 years, South Africa has recorded more than 1,000 cases of cuts in the penis during botched circumcision.

Be The Light by One Ok Rock

The song is tribute to the Tohoko Tsunami in 2011 to give hope for those affected by the disasters. Hope you will enjoy the song and take time to value everyone in your life.

Just the thought of another day
How did we end up this way
What did we do wrong?
God

Even though the days go on
So far, so far away from
It seems so close

Always weighing on my shoulder
A time like no other
It all changed on that day
Sadness and so much pain

You can touch the sorrow here
I don’t know what to blame
I just watch and watch again
O...

Even though the days go on
So far, so far away from
It seems so close

Even though the days go on
So far, so far away from
It seems so close

What did it leave behind?
What did it take from us and wash away?
It may be long
But with our hearts start a new
And keep it up and not give up
With our heads held high

You have seen hell and made it back again
How to forget? We can’t forget
The lives that were lost along the way
And then you realize that wherever you go
There you are
Time won’t stop
So we keep moving on

Yesterday’s night turns to light
Tomorrow’s night returns to light
O... Be the light

Always weighing on my shoulder
A time like no other
It all changed on that day
Sadness and so much pain

Anyone can close their eyes
Pretend that nothing is wrong
Open your eyes
And look for light
O...

What did it leave behind?
What did it take from us and wash away?
It may be long
But with our hearts start a new
And keep it up and not give up
With our heads held high

Yeah, yeah...

You have seen hell and made it back again
How to forget? We can’t forget
The lives that were lost along the way
And then you realize that wherever you go
There you are
Time won’t stop
So we keep moving on

Yesterday’s night turns to light
Tomorrow’s night returns to light
O... Be the light

Some days just pass by and
Some days are unforgettable
We can’t choose the reason why
But we can choose what to do from the day after
So with that hope, with that determination
Let’s make tomorrow a brighter and better day

O...
Yeah...
O...
Yeah... Yeah...
Uh Ooo...

We Are by One Ok Rock

We are, we are
We are, we are

They think that we're no one
We're nothing, not sorry
They push us
It's too late, it's too late
Not going back
They think that we are made up
Of all of our failures
They think we are foolish
And that's how the story goes

They stand for nothing
They're lifeless and cold
Anything they say
Will never break our hearts of gold

When you're standing on the edge
So young and hopeless
Got demons in your head
We are, we are
No ground beneath your feet
Not here to hold you
'Cause we are, we are
The colors in the dark
